Boko Haram Sets Free 200 Women Hostages In Yobe State
The BBC Hausa Service has disclosed that about 200 female hostages kidnapped by suspected militants of the Islamist group Boko Haram in Katarko Gujba, Yobe on January 2015 have been released.
This was confirmed by one of the elders from the community.
A statement from one of the woman who survived the attack BBC Hausa service revealed that the hostages were brutally manhandled by the insurgents due to their refusal to denounce their faith and join them.
She said, “They released us after we were asked to follow them in doing the work of Allah which we vehemently refused.
“They took us to an unknown destination and left us there. We had to look for another means to come back to our village.
Although It is hard to verify the total number of women and children in the camp, not less than 30 people are still imprisoned by the insurgents. Source BBC.
