Police arrests suspected killer of Enugu magistrate

imageThe Police in Enugu State have arrested one Abuchi Afam, over his alleged involvement in the gruesome murder of a serving magistrate in the State.
The deceased magistrate was murdered on September 01, 2014 by gunmen in front of his residence at Trans-Ekuli, Enugu.
According to a press statement made available by the spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, the suspect, a native of Eda in Afikpo South local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was arrested in Aba.
The statement quoted the 21-year-old Abuchi as saying that their intention was not to shoot or kill the magistrate but to snatch his car and go to operation with it.
“He regretted that on that fateful day, himself and other gang members, numbering about three, contracted a tricyclist from Gariki Awkunanaw, Enugu where they took off to Trans-Ekulu to make a cult hit against their rival cult members of the Ayez or black axe confraternity.
“He revealed that they are members of the vikings confraternity on a revenge mission but stumbled on the deceased magistrate when he was trying to drive out from his gate; they discharged the tricyclist and decided to take over the car.
“He confessed that it was one of his friends, identified as BIAKO, who called him and others and informed them that there is going to be war between their cult, Vikings and Ayez. He said that he was called up from his residence at Agu Uwani Enugu”.
Abuchi, who also denied killing the magistrate said, “I did not shoot the man. It was Biako that shot the man when he was trying to drag the key with them”
“The suspect is helping the police to fish out all those that perpetrated the ugly incident”, Amaraizu added.
