Chris Kyle’s killer, Eddie Ray Routh has been sentenced to life imprisonment after the jury denied his insanity plea.Eddie Routh who murdered author of American Sniper, Chris Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield at a shooting range in Texas in 2013.
The case became prominent after the autobiography was turned into a blockbuster movie which was directed by Clint Eastwood and saw Bradley Cooper play the lead role.
Kyle who was a former Navy SEAL and was also credited with the most confirmed kills of any U.S. military sniper.
The author and Littlefield had taken 27-year-old Routh to the shooting range after Routh’s mother asked Kyle to help her troubled son who had served in Iraq and Haiti.
Routh shot the two men with about 12 or 13 bullets when their backs were turned and guns holstered but later claimed that he had a delusion that they were planning to kill him.
