Reports reaching us from Calabar, Cross River, indicate that the unknown gunmen February 20 raided the Afokang prison and started sporadic shooting.
It was disclosed by the residents living in the area of the prison that the incident occurred at about 11.30am, according to Reports
Several inmates were said to have been released in the ensuing melee. No information on the casualties has been provided at the moment.
Shops and other business outlets in the area were closed down. Security was deployed to the scene to calm the situation.
