Fulani fighters on Sunday morning killed no fewer than 30 people including a monarch in Iorza village of Logo LGA of Benue State.
Governor Gabriel Suswam hails from Logo LGA, where the suspected Fulani militias have continued to murder residents at will and without provocation.
We gathered that the armed Fulani fighters stormed the village in the early hours of Sunday while residents were preparing to go for Sunday services thus taking them unawares.
It was further gathered that the people killed by the attackers were mostly women, children and the aged while others were critically injured.
One eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Chigh, told our correspondent that the Fulani men attacked the community and shot sporadically at anything on sight.
Chigh narrated that he and others escaped by sheer luck as the men wielded sophisticated weapons.
He added that the other injured victims were now receiving medical treatment at different hospitals across the state just as he maintained that the entire village had been razed.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Command in the state, Austin Ezeani, confirmed the report but said only four dead bodies had so far been recovered. He noted that security operatives had already been drafted to maintain peace in the area.
