Classic FM OAP Sylvester Ojigbede (Sly) Dies

Classic FM 97.3 staff are in mourning after the death of their popular OAP, Sylvester O. Ojigbede.

The radio personality, popularly known as ‘Sly‘ by colleagues and listeners alike, was said to have died after a brief illness. Colleagues took to social media to mourn the death of the  amiable presenter.


Sly anchored the Morning Show (6am to 11am) from Mondays to Thursdays as well as the Classic X-Press (6am to noon) on Saturdays on the urban radio station notable for creating nostalgic feelings among listeners. Sly was born in the 70s according to sources and was an Economics graduate of the University of Lagos who worked in Advertising, Mortgage and the Commercial banking sectors before joining Classic FM as a presenter.
According to his colleagues, he was a very hardworking radio person who took his job very seriously and was always willing to fill in for his colleagues who might not be able to make it at to the office before their resumption time. His friend and co-host, Tintin, praised his former colleague saying:

Sly … The hardest worker I have ever worked with, my protégée, co-host and adopted nephew… It’s nothing but smooth sailing now buddy! I’m hurting so bad, but at least I had the honor of seeing you in your final hours. Thank you for being such a good guy. Ciao Sly….Peaceful journey. RIP”
