Nigeria award winning author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s family are rejoicing as they welcomed back their father from captivity.
The Half of a Yellow Sun writer’s father was abducted on Saturday on his way to Anambra state.
He was freed last night around 8pm. The man, Professor James Nwoye had been held for three days.
The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N50m but as of right now, reporters can’t ascertain if a ransom was paid or not.
Professor Nwoye was the first professor of statistics in Nigeria and was also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) before he retired.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian novelist and short story writer. She has been called “the most prominent” of a “procession of critically acclaimed young anglophone authors
