Gunmen believed to be hired thugs reportedly set ablaze the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ugba town of Logo local government area of Benue State on Sunday.
Ugba is the headquarters of Logo LGA which is the home of Governor Gabriel Suswam.
According to Leadership report, the incident happened at about 8.45 pm today after supporters of the rival political parties clashed.
Report has that the gunmen, who were dressed in military uniform were shooting sporadically.
Eyewitnesses said the entire Ugba town became rowdy as people scampered for safety. Several persons were said to have sustained injury.
Confirming the incident, the police public relations officer, ASP Ezeani Ameachi said policemen had been deployed to the affected area to maintain peace.
The announcement of results of the presidential elections in Benue state has commenced and so far,President Goodluck Jonathan is taking the lead in five local government areas.
