The plane that crashed
A plane carrying 224 passengers crashed today in the mountainous area of Sinai very close to the area where the Egyptian army is combating ISIL militants.
The plane carrying 200 adults, 7 crew members and 17 children broke into two in Northern Sinai today killing all passengers on board.
BBC’s Orla Guerin in Cairo says it is likely there will be speculation about militant involvement in the incident – Sinai has an active militant network, with local Jihadis who have allied themselves to so-called Islamic State.
